There's nothing quite like waking up in the morning to be greeting by the smell of fresh coffee - it is truly the best way to kick-start your day! With so many coffee makers available to buy, we are clearing the muddied water with some free impartial advice to help you buy the perfect coffee maker!
- Footprint
- Say you have a compact kitchen and worktop space is at a premium, then you must consider the size of the coffee maker's footprint. Will it take up too much room and look unsightly? Will it block off an area of your kitchen that you could use? Working out the area to be occupied by the coffee maker should be an important part of the decision making process.
- Hot Plate
- Find out any information you can get your hands on about the hot plate. If it breaks, is it easy to fix? If it is left on, does it cost much to run? How long will the plate stay hot after being turned off?
- Style
- This one is important as the coffee maker will most likely form a pivotal role in the kitchen. If you don't like the look of the coffee maker, chances are it won't stay out or be used. Luckily there are literally hundreds of different styles to choose from, so the only difficulty in finding a suitable coffee maker will be making your mind up!
- Temperature
- Check to see if the coffee maker comes with an adjustable thermostat. Is there any way to regulate the temperature?
- Timeable
- If you want to wake up to the homely smell of fresh coffee in the morning, then you will need a coffee maker that can be programmed to start brewing at a certain time. This is not a standard feature for most, so expect to pay more for this ability. However, it is well worth it!
- Volume
- Say you have a family, or you are seriously addicted to coffee - you will need to know the volume of the coffee maker. Will it be able to produce enough to satisfy your demands? Also think about whether you should buy a larger coffee maker than you currently need.
