There are so many espresso machines on the market, and choosing an espresso machine for your home or business can be a daunting task. Here are a few things to look out for when you are buying a new espresso machine.
Espresso Machine Features
- Ample Size
- Remember, a small espresso machine is fine when you might only be making an espresso for yourself in the morning, but what about after a dinner party or when you have visitors staying? You need an espresso machine with horsepower and grunt. Some of the espresso machines (and this includes espresso machines from famous companies) are small and inadequate for daily use in a family environment.
- Built-in Timer
- When you are looking around the stores for a good espresso machine, pay close attention and hunt out those with a built-in timer. They are often more expensive, but they are infinitely more useful. Buying an espresso machine with a built-in timer means that you can set it to automatically turn on every morning at 7am and begin to heat up. Then when you come downstairs, the espresso machine is ready to go!
- Good Build Quality
- It may sound so boring, but make sure that when you are buying an espresso machine that it is built well. Check the internet for reviews (there are lots of them) and ensure that the manufacturer comes with a proven track record. Build quality in an espresso machine is of central importance, because if poorly constructed it will leak and possible interfere with the flavour of the espresso.
- Noise
- A certain amount of noise is to be expected of any espresso machine, but you should go to any legth to get a machine that is quiet. Why? Well, some people don't like to be disturbed in the morning!
- Speed
- If we could stress one thing, it would be speed. Ensure that your espresso machine of choice is fast! Some of the machines we have used in the past take far too long to make even a single cup of espresso. When you are in a rush to work but still need that boost, you'll be more than thankful!
- Style
- Last but not least, style! Everybody loves a really stylish espresso machine, but beware of the pitfalls. Stainless steel looks cool, but can be a pain to keep clean - a combination of steel and plastic is ideal. Many machines hide their indicator lights, which means you can't see what's happening. Try to choose an espresso machine that has lights at the front. If you have a contemporary kitchen, then go for a contemporary espresso machine. Likewise, choose a more suitable machine if you have a country / cottage / quaker style kitchen.
