Chocolate Butterscotch Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Demerera Sugar (Soft)
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 cup Nuts (Chopped)
  • 3/4 cup Flour
  • 1/4 cup Shortening
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Egg (Beaten)

Method

  1. Using a small saucepan over a steady heat, melt the shortening.
  2. Lift off the heat and combine with vanilla extract, sugar and beaten egg.
  3. Mix in the flour, chocolate chips, nuts, baking powder and salt.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased 9“ cake tin.
  5. Place in an oven preheated to 350 F and bake for 20 minutes.
  6. Lift out to cool on a wire rack.
  7. Sprinkle generously with sugar and enjoy!
