Caramel Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1-1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Demerera Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 cup Shortening
  • 1/2 cup White Sugar
  • 3 tsp Baking Powder
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 3 Eggs (Beaten)
  • 1 pkt Caramel Frosting Mix

Method

  1. Using a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, milk, demerera sugar, chocolate chips, shortening, white sugar and vanilla extract.
  2. Sieve in the baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. While stirring, mix in the beaten eggs until smooth.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased 8“ cake tin.
  5. Place in an oven preheated to 350 F and bake for 45 minutes.
  6. Lift out and cool on a wire rack.
  7. Make up the caramel frosting according to the recipe on the packet.
  8. Glaze the cake with the caramel frosting.
  9. Sprinkle generously with sugar to finish.
