Mixture Ingredients
- 1-1/4 cups Flour
- 1 cup Water
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Cocoa Powder
- 1/2 cup Corn Syrup
- 1/4 cup Cornstarch
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 4 Egg Whites
Topping Mixture
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1/3 cup Cocoa Powder
- 2 tbl Water
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 Egg White
Method
- Take a mixing bowl and combine the cocoa powder, sugar, cornstarch, flour, baking soda and salt.
- Using another bowl, whisk the water, corn syrup and egg whites until stiff and peaky.
- Fold gradually into the flour mixture while stirring.
- Pour onto a greased 9“ baking tray.
- Place in an oven preheated to 350 F and bake for 30 minutes.
- Lift out of the oven and cool on a wire rack.
- For the topping, combine the sugar, cocoa, water, vanilla extract and egg white until smooth.
- Pour onto the cake and spread evenly.
- Allow the topping to set before serving.
